The sociological structure of the population on Limpertsberg is gradually changing due to Portuguese immigration, the Don Bosco refugee center and the arrival of many foreign employees in the banking sector, as well as officials from the EU institutions. At the same time, as everywhere else, small stores are disappearing from the heart of the neighborhood, as is the streetcar with its parking and maintenance facilities. The church-run "Veräinshaus" becomes a meeting place and place of integration for much of the neighborhood's youth, while behind the walls of "Kannerland" less privileged children undergo a far more traumatic upbringing.
