Max had actually intended to give his father a jumper for his birthday, but when he discusses the surprise effect in a piece of music with Maestro Barenboim, his mentor has a much better idea. In order to better understand the principle of surprise, Max is to prepare one for his father. Max is enthusiastic and plans a scavenger hunt of presents followed by a surprise party. But things do not turn out the way Max had wanted.
