Actually, Dean had forbidden Joe to leave the apartment. But Joe has to pay electricity and therefore dares to leave the house. When Asha invites him on an outing and he stands up to his school enemy in the park, he reveals to Asha that he is all alone. She comforts him. But on the day of the planned return, no one shows up. Joe worries, and then a creepy stranger also calls, threatening Joe. "Joe All Alone" is based on the stories of English children's and young adult author Joanna Nadin. The real-life series, nominated this year for one of the coveted "International Emmy® Kids Awards," movingly portrays Joe's emotional world between inner despair, hope and a good dose of gallows humor. Joe's narration from the first-person perspective as well as helpful supporting characters manage to take away the material's original heaviness. "Joe all alone" is a production of the British children's television station CBBC in cooperation with Zodiak Kids Studio.
