Ho-Chi-Minh-City, the old Saigon is the starting point of the journey through Vietnam and South China. After a long drive through steppes, highlands, deserts and primeval forests, the farEAST-team reaches the South Chinese sea. In the Vietnamese city of Nha Trang, a fisherman takes the travelers to the sea and in Hoi An, a trader invites them into the most splendid room of her house that is usually closed to the public. Here, the ancestral spirits reside. The Ha-Long-Bay in the North of Vietnam is a true natural wonder. It used to be a rocky landscape, now it is under water. On top of it, far away from the coast, on floating platforms, there is a village. The village Dao Thuc lies north of Hanoi. Its inhabitants, the farmers of the village are highly gifted puppeteers - very special puppeteers: the puppets dance, jump and fight on the water, while their masters guide their movements from below the surface. In Lao Cai, on the "Roof of Indochina," the farEAST-vehicles leave behind the completely overloaded and dangerous roads of Vietnam. From now on, they travel on the wide and comfortable Chinese motorways. Still, it is a long way through the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of South China, before the team finally reaches the old Canton Guangzhou.
