Chaja Florentin and Mimi Frons have been best friends for 83 years. Born and raised in Berlin, they had to flee with their families from the Nazis to Palestine in 1934. In a German-born café in Tel Aviv, where they meet every day, they talk about their ambivalent relationship with Berlin. Chaja and Mimi are so-called Jeckes - as the Jewish immigrants to Israel were called. The film was shot in the Jeckes' longtime meeting place: the Café Mersand in Tel Aviv. It was the regular café of the two protagonists, who have since died, throughout their lives. The café was founded in 1958 by German immigrant Walter Mersand.
